They were both transported to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth and are in stable condition.

Burleson police say the officers were responding to an “assist person” call at the Wells Fargo Bank on the 400 block of East Renfro Street. Upon arrival, they learned that the bank had been robbed.

The suspected robber left the bank and fled when an officer chased him. Two officers were hit after a short exchange of gunfire with the suspect.

One of the officers is said to have serious but non-life threatening injuries while the other has minor injuries.

The names of the two officers have not been released.

The suspected robber, who was not hit in the exchange, was taken into custody at a 7-Eleven at East Renfro Street and Burleson Boulevard.
