MONTGOMERY, ALABAMA –The accident resulted in one of the cars hitting a tree. Montgomery Police spokeswoman Sgt. Barnes confirmed that two people were killed.

“The circumstances surrounding the accident are unknown at this time. Identities of the victims are not available for release,” Barnes said.

Montgomery County DA Daryl Bailey was at the scene of the crash Thursday, calling it a DUI Homicide investigation. He tells WSFA 12 News that an alleged drunk driver hit and killed two people in another car.

“A family on their way to celebrate Thanksgiving and now are planning a funeral. Please be careful on the roadway and never allow someone to drive drunk,” he said in a statement. “It’s good for people to have fun with family and friends, but remember, if you have anything to drink, you shouldn’t drive. Driving drunk is a crime. It can be a serious crime. It can cost your life and the life of others. Anyone caught driving drunk will be charged with the crime of murder which carries 10 years to life . A DUI is as bad as any violent crime. You’re using a car and alcohol instead of a gun.”
