ETHRIDGE, Tenn. —
The convicted offender was permitted to eat breakfast with his grandchildren at Ethridge Elementary School in Lawrence County, Tennessee; WKRN reported.
The district’s new visitor management system Raptor flagged Billy Gene Roberson as he entered the school yet he was still allowed to stay.
“The screen popped up and the principal checked it and the [school resource officer] was notified,” Lawrence County Director of Schools Dr. Bill Health explained.
“To me, that is very positive and it should make our parents aware that by identifying folks when they enter the building. We are really taking steps to make their kids safe.”
The school district allowed Roberson, who was charged with sexual battery in 2003, to still eat with his grandkids with the school resource officer standing close by.
