Passenger Beats Homeless Man After Being Asked To Leave Ladies Restroom At Newark Airport

The victim, a homeless man, was hospitalized after being beaten with a chair this morning by a passenger at Newark Liberty International Airport who been at the airport and acting erratically since Thursday night, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey said.

According to NJ.com,  26-year-old Leonidas Monroy Sandoval of Guatemala began acting erratically after arriving at the airport Thursday and missing his flights.

He allegedly beat the unidentified man and also threw a chair at Port Authority police.

The 62-year-old victim was struck in the head numerous times and knocked unconscious, Port Authority police spokesman Joe Pentangelo said.

The man was hospitalized with “serious injuries.” Further details were not disclosed.

Also, a Delta employee reported that he followed her out into the parking lot and shouted at her, and at another point he had to be asked to leave a ladies restroom.

Authority spokeswoman Erica Dumas said Sandoval was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, aggravated assault on a police officer and weapons offenses. It wasn’t known if Sandoval has retained a lawyer.
