MIDTOWN — W. 46th Street @ Eighth Avenue — A construction worker has died after falling 24 stories down an elevator shaft in Midtown around 1 p.m.
The man was rushed to Bellevue Hospital. He was pronounced dead shortly after.
It’s unclear at this time what caused the man to fall.
NBC New York reported that around 200 workers were at the site at the time of the incident.
An investigation is ongoing.
