DALLAS, Texas — 28-year-old Alice Carroll, a daycare teacher, has been charged with child abandonment after her daughter spent the night in a dumpster outside of the ‘King Spa & Sauna’ in Dallas.
The girl told police her mother told her to climb inside the dumpster because police were following them. From the warrant:
“[Carroll] told the [child] to get in a dumpster because the police were chasing them,” the warrant read. “[The child] stated [Carroll] helped her to get into the dumpster and then left her there by a busy street, in a high crime area in the middle of the night…”
The child says she fell asleep inside the dumpster and then walked back toward King Spa & Sauna when she awoke the next morning.
The girl also had cuts on her arms and was transported to Children’s Medical Hospital for evaluation. She was later released to family members.
