Secret Service arrested an Iowa man in possession of a .30-30 rifle and ammunition near the White House, The The New York Times reported.

The man approached Secret Service officers.

“He said that someone had told him that he should come to the White House so he had driven to Washington to do so,” an anonymous law enforcement official told the Times. “The officers interviewed him there and realized that there needed to be further investigating because something wasn’t right.”

They searched the mans car and found the rifle along with ammo.

The suspect was charged with possession of an illegal firearm.
