FULL DETAILS: NYPD Shoot And Kill Man Who Attacked Officers With Boxcutter

On Sunday morning, at approximately 8:24AM, police were present in front of 43-32 Kissena Boulevard to conduct a field investigation in regards to a complaint of menacing within the confines of the 109 Precinct. The complaint originated from New York Hospital Queens located at 56-45 Main Street. Earlier in the morning, a 29 year-old male, present at the hospital, threatened personnel with a knife before fleeing the location. At 7:39AM, a patrol sergeant and his operator, assigned to a marked RMP and in uniform, responded to a 911 call at the hospital to investigate this complaint. Pursuant to the investigation at the hospital, and while canvassing the area, a suspect fitting the provided description was observed by the officers in front of 43-32 Kissena Boulevard. The sergeant and his operator, in addition to two patrol officers in a sector car, approached the suspect on foot. The suspect, holding a utility knife in his hand, confronted one of the officers who had responded in the sector car. That officer then discharged his service weapon two times, striking the suspect once in the torso. The suspect was transported by EMS to New York Hospital Queens where he was pronounced DOA. The three officers and the sergeant were transported by EMS to New York Hospital Queens for treatment of tinnitus. There were no other injuries reported as a result of this incident. The investigation is ongoing.

The identity of the suspect is pending family notification.
