Near hurricane-force winds slammed the island and forced evacuations from homes on the island of Nantucket.
Massachusetts State Police reported downtown Nantucket streets were flooded and evacuations were underway.
Power was out to the entire island, Nantucket Police Chief William Pittman told NBC News.

Nantucket is an island 30 miles south of Cape Cod, in the American state of Massachusetts.
