RICHMOND (CBS SF) — A flare due to depressurizing equipment at the Chevron refinery in Richmond lit up the sky Thursday evening, causing a stir on social media.
Chevron tweeted that the flare at the refinery was no cause for alarm, but social media users took to Twitter with pictures of the flare up wondering if there was a fire.
UPDATE 2:
There was some visible flaring tonight to allow for equipment de-pressuring. Flaring is a part of refinery operations.
