TULSA, Oklahoma — A woman in Tulsa is charged with illegal dissection of a human body for allegedly cutting the body of a dead woman who used to date her boyfriend.
The suspect, Shaynna Smith, walked into the funeral home and found the woman’s body, cut the woman’s hair, smudged the corpse’s makeup and cut the woman’s face, KOKI reported.
The dead woman’s mother saw the suspect with her hands in the coffin and called police.
Responding authorities found Smith at the deceased woman’s apartment. They said the woman’s son let Smith in because she told him she was getting jewelry for the woman’s funeral.
Authorities say Smith had a knife with the woman’s hair on it.
Detectives are investigating and have not released a possible motive.
Tulsa is the second-largest city in the State of Oklahoma and 47th-most populous city in the United States. As of July 2013 the population was 398,121, an increase of 6,215 over that reported in the 2010 Census.
