CHICAGO: Man Points Weapon At Officers Near Police Station

A man from Chicago’s South Side is charged with pointing a gun at police and other witnesses near a Far South Side police station on Monday morning.

Clyde Freeman, was arrested on the 700 block of East 111th Street at approximately 7:15 a.m.

People approached Calumet District police officers and said Freeman, age 29, pointed a weapon at them, police said in a release on Monday evening.

Officers found Freeman inside of a car holding a weapon before he then pointed it at the officers.

Officers recovered the gun and took Freeman into custody.

There is no information on the type of gun Freeman had in his possession.

The man was charged with three counts of aggravated assault with a weapon to a peace officer, two accounts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, unlawful use of a loaded weapon, and having no valid gun card, police said.

Public records indicate Freeman was sentenced to two years probation, completed in 2005. He pleaded guilty in a drug case and received credit for time served in Cook County.

He will appear in court on Tuesday.
