Late Tuesday evening, Santa Cruz High School’s principal received an email containing threats that told the time, place and method of an attack.

The message “indicated an intention to create a mass casualty situation with students and staff at the campus,” Police said.

Investigators worked all night to track down the origins of the email but were unable to invalidate it or find out where the email came from.

The campus was closed for the day and additional officers patrolled nearby schools.

The school will be open tomorrow.
