An apartment building collapsed in the Washington Park neighborhood in Chicago Sunday night. 58th Street and Calumet Avenue — The building was reported to have collapsed about 7 p.m., Fire Media Affairs said in a tweet.
No one else was believed to be trapped, but firefighters were continuing their search a little after 8 p.m. to make certain, said Chicago Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford. “Something blew up and the whole buidling is pancaked,” said Langford.
The first victim was a young woman, while the second was a woman about 70 years old. While she was considered in serious-to-critical condition, the older woman was able to talk to rescue crews when she was pulled out, Langford said.

Crews were doing a search and rescue for an unknown number of people trapped in the rubble, Fire Media Affairs said.
