JUST IN: Suspect Who Tried To Breach Gate at Picatinny Arsenal In NJ Identified

    NEW JERSEY — The suspect in a security scare at the Picatinny Arsenal last Friday has been identified as 46-year-old Petr Cifka a citizen of the Czech Republic.

    The suspect was detained after trying to make entrance at a truck gate at the facility. His car was deemed suspicious but no explosives were found.

    According to a statement from ICE, “Mr. Cifka has been entered into deportation proceedings and will remain in ICE custody pending a hearing before a federal immigration judge.”

    Earlier Report-4/17/15 — Officials are responding to an “explosive threat” at the Picatinny Arsenal in Jersey.

    A driver allegedly tried to go through a gate for trucks and was stopped when guards noticed something suspicious.

    NBC-NY reports that at least one person was taken into custody. The military facility was evacuated and the gate was locked down.

    Route 15 is closed in both directions. Few details were available. An investigation is ongoing.

    The Picatinny Arsenal is an American military research and manufacturing facility located on 6,400 acres of land in Jefferson Township and Rockaway Township in Morris County, New Jersey, United States, encompassing Picatinny Lake and Lake Denmark.
