The NYPD is questioning a man after one of their own was attacked while her way to work in Harlem, New York Wednesday morning.

The 43-year-old was off duty while heading to work at the NYPD Housing Bureau’s PSA 5, located at 221 East 123rd Street in Harlem.

“Sergeants don’t wear uniforms to work, so she was in plain clothes. It is not known whether her shield was visible,” ABC New York reported.

The assault occurred at around 6:50 a.m. at 125th Street and Lenox Avenue after the officer had just left a Dunkin’ Donuts.

An emotionally unstable male punched and kicked the officer, knocking her to the ground. The officer suffered a laceration over the left eye and bruises to her head, but was not seriously hurt.

The 43-year-old officer was transported to Mount Sinai St. Luke’s Hospital.

The suspect fled north on Lenox Avenue and is still at large.

Police say he is about 6-feet-tall, 200 pounds and was last seen wearing blue jeans, a blue jacket and a baseball cap with orange, blue and white trim.

This story is developing.
