SCROLL DOWN FOR VIDEO — BROOKLYN — Breaking911.com has learned a NYPD Officer has died after shooting himself Sunday afternoon in Brooklyn.
EARLIER REPORT: The FDNY / EMS is currently rushing an off-duty NYPD Officer to a hospital after he shot himself. The incident happened just before 4:00PMat 7171 Narrows Avenue in the Bay Ridge section of Brooklyn.
Sources tell Breaking911 that the officer is in traumatic arrest, and CPR is being performed. He is being rushed to the Lutheran Trauma Center in Brooklyn with a heavy NYPD escort and an NYPD chopper overhead.
Although unconfirmed, it appears the officer does not work in the area that he shot himself. NYPD protocol does not allow officers to work in their home precincts. This incident happened in the confines of the 68th Precinct.
Sources tell Breaking911 that the officer is an off-duty Sergeant. It is unknown which command he is assigned to.
