MARYLAND — The Prince George’s County Police Department is investigating a suspect now in custody in connection with a shooting spree in Maryland. No one was seriously injured in any of the four cases linked through ballistics today by PGPD firearms examiners.

The suspect is 35-year-old Hong Young of the 4900 block of Daisey Creek Terrace in Beltsville. Anne Arundel County Police arrested the suspect this morning. Young is currently at a hospital under police guard.

Police announced in a news conference Wednesday that Young is a former corrections officer at a medium security prison in Jessup, but say nothing stands out in his employee file.

Prince George’s County police conducted a search of the suspect’s home Wednesday morning.

The shooting on the ICC occurred at about 2:40 pm yesterday. One of the two occupants of a truck was treated at a hospital for cuts from shattered glass but was quickly released. Four shootings in the past week have been linked to the suspect’s semi-automatic pistol, which was submitted to the PGPD’s lab.

The shootings occurred at the NSA, along the ICC, at a Howard County movie theater and near Arundel Mills Mall.
