The shooting happened about 12:30 Sunday morning. According to police records, officers on patrol in the area heard shots coming from the rink’s parking lot. When they got there, they found two teenagers shot. A 17-year-old girl and a 15-year-old boy were taken to Regional One in non-critical condition.  Security told officers that the shots came from a red Chevy Tahoe, which had taken off with its emergency lights on.

Officers stopped the SUV a short distance away. They say April Rawls was in the passenger seat, and admitted to the shooting. Also in the car were an adult man, and four children, ages 10, 12, 13, and 14. According to the affidavit, Rawls told officers she shot into the crowd in anger after learning one of her daughters was involved in a fight at the rink that night, and another daughter had been hit by a car.

Investigators found a gun in the SUV, and 6 spent shell casings in the rink parking lot.  Rawls is charged with 2 counts of Aggravated Assault, and 1 count of Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.
