EVERETT, Mass. — Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan has announced that Sami Sherif, 18, of Everett is scheduled to be arraigned at 9 a.m., Monday, March 30, in Malden District Court, on the charge of rape.

Sherif allegedly sexually assaulted a teenager, 18, who was found unresponsive in the driveway of a home on Appleton Street in Everett on Saturday, March 7. Sherif was arrested and booked at the Everett Police Station today at approximately 4:45 p.m., a Bail Commissioner set bail for Sherif at $1540 cash, and bail was posted.

“Our thoughts are with the victim who continues to recover from this incident,” said District Attorney Ryan. “She apparently was assaulted in the aftermath of a party she attended in the neighborhood. Underage drinking was allegedly taking place at that party and the circumstances of that event are still being actively investigated.”

Everett Police Chief Steven Mazzie added, “I applaud the efforts of investigators from my department and from the State Police in working hard to identify a suspect. With the results of tests from the state crime lab and the detective work which was done, we expect that justice will be served.”

On Saturday, March 7, at approximately 6:45 a.m., the victim was found unconscious on the driveway of a home at 32 Appleton Street in Everett and was then transported to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston where she was treated for severe hypothermia and listed in “extremely critical” condition. The victim’s condition steadily improved and approximately one week ago she went home from the hospital.

This case is currently being investigated by the Everett Police Department with the assistance of Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.
