HARRISON COUNTY, Mississippi — The fire department was working with the U.S. Forest Service on a controlled burn of 800 acres in the Desoto National Forest when the chopper went down.
The Fire Marshal says two people are dead and one was taken to the hospital.
De Soto National Forest is 518,587 acres of pine forests in southern Mississippi. It is one of the most important protected areas for the biological diversity of the Gulf Coast ecoregion of North America.
