JACKSON, Mississippi –23-month-old baby, Elijah McGee died Sunday.
Elijah was badly burned and taken to hospital on Thursday.
Doctors said the toddler had obvious signs of child abuse.
The child’s mother, 21-year-old Dymond Clement, and her boyfriend, 26-year-old Quenten Johnson, were arrested and charged with felony child abuse and felony child neglect.
They appeared in a Jackson courtroom, Friday morning, and were both denied bond, according to MS News Now.
Police said their investigation revealed the child may have been injured earlier in the week and his mother and her boyfriend, may have not tried to get medical assistance until the last minute.
