The New Hope City Council meeting started Monday evening around 7 p.m. local time with two police officers being sworn in.
Authorities said at about 7:15, as the two officers were leaving the meeting, a man engaged them and opened fire.
The two officers were hit, and other police with them opened fire on the suspect, killing him.
The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office said both officers that were shot are in good condition and expected to be OK. Authorities said they are not looking for any other suspects in the incident.
