Alan Gross, arrested by Cuba on espionage charges, worked as a subcontractor for the U.S. Agency for International Development. He was charged with trying to provide Internet service for some of the island’s residents.
“Mr. Gross was released on humanitarian grounds by the Cuban government at the request of the United States….This morning, Alan Gross has departed Cuba on a US government plane bound for the United States”, and administration said in a statement.
