NORRISTOWN, Pennsylvania – – A judge sentenced a Pennsylvania teenager to life in prison without the possibility of parole after stabbing his girlfriend in Philadelphia on a hiking trail in 2013.

The Montgomery County Judge William Carpenter said the 18-year-old poses “a continual threat if not incarcerated.”

Tristan Stahley was convicted of first-degree murder in the stabbing death of 17-year-old Julie Siller.

Because the suspect was 16 years old at the time of the crime he did not face the automatic life term but rather a sentence of 35 to life without the possibility of parole.

The assistant district attorney says the suspect “made sure that if he couldn’t have her nobody else could.”

The assistant district attorney also says the suspect is “horribly callous,” but his defense lawyer says he is very remorseful
